My Messy Marvin

At times like this I wonder if I really need to let him feed himself or if the pediatrician is just full of it. He'll learn it eventually right?  In my opinion, oatmeal is one of the worst foods to clean up. The texture and consistency gross me out and it sticks so well to everything.  Maybe I'll turn this one over to Daddy since it's Saturday.

Holy cow, the kid is not going to go off to Kindergarden not knowing how to use a spoon! If you think he needs a little more time and he will actually let you feed him I would say go for it to avoid that mess. Or I think I remember making super thick oatmeal for Áine to learn--like paste thick. Oatmeal is the worst to clean--you should have him learn to use a spoon in the bath tub haha!

I remember delaying giving Lainey a spoon to feed herself and she does it just fine now. Of course, she still lets us feed her occasionally the lazy little bugger. LOL. Oatmeal is just awful to clean up off of him, the counter, his feeding seat, etc. Ugh.....

UGH! I am so very anal about meal messes--you are WAY braver than I am! lol Oatmeal is the worst I think--did any of that even make it to his mouth? heehee
I actually started with fork feeding first, showed them how to "poke" their food and eventually the spoon feeding just naturally followed :)
