A day in the life of my Bug and Buns.
This is the scene I stubbled on when it got a little too quiet in the play room.
Now that he's mobile, he spends the day exploring the house. She is none too pleased about this new development of his and I have to keep a close eye on her to make sure she doesn't pull him around the room by his hand or head.....again.

Is he sucking his thumb or chewing on the pacifier? Not sure but he's happy and that's all that matters.

The end is near

We have had, in my humble opinion, the best summer ever. The weather has been fantastic since May and if you are familiar with Seattle, you know how rare that is. Two things signal the end of summer in Seattle for me: Seahawk football tickets arrive in the mail, and Fair Season. You just know summer is over when the fairs start. There's really only two fairs that we go to and the first started earlier this week. I will post more on our trip to the fair later but it's one more sign summer is coming to a close.

This summer was definitely the "Summer of Yellow Crocs." Lainey insisted on wearing these shoes every chance she got. In fact, she doesn't think they are shoes. She corrects me when I tell her to get her shoes and says, "Crocs Momma."
Fall is definitely on its way.

growing too fast

I wish I could slow it down just a little and savor every moment for just awhile longer.

Doing what I do best

Besides lighting up Mommy's world with my smile,
[side note: today was my first time sitting in a restaurant style high chair!]
I like to chew on anything I can get a hold of: the stroller
This book is great to chew on because it's nice and squishy.
Worn out from all that chewing but on the lookout for what I can get next.

Feeding the ducks....and freaking me out

Lainey loves the ducks and other "wild" life at Country Village near our house. A couple of weeks ago when I took her to get her hair cut, she kept asking to feed them and I had forgotten to bring some bread along. So I became one of those mothers and scrounged in my car for anything edible. I found some goldfish crackers and a granola bar and they didn't last long. This time, I planned ahead and tore up some bread and put it into a ziplock bag for her. I planned on taking some pics of her feeding them. Well....I ended up feeding them for the most part. I was not prepared for a goose with no fear whatsoever, a rooster fight and some overzealous chickens. Ever had a rooster look you straight in the eye? It's WEIRD and very disconcerting. They also got too close to my baby for my comfort and hers but I am pretty sure I was more scared than she was. After getting Beau in his car seat and Lainey in hers, getting my camera settings the way I wanted and travel time, our little excursion took about a half hour. The actual feeding of the fowl, 3 minutes at best. And I was totally exhausted!

Holding her bag of bread and so excited to feed the ducks. How do I know she was excited? She let me turn off Sesame Street in the middle of an episode she hadn't seen before. We NEVER turn off Sesame Street before it's over and normally she'd ask to watch another episode.

Even my Lainey who loves bugs and worms and all things dirty and gross, got a little scared. Seriously, they act like they haven't eaten in weeks and there are always people feeding them.
Freaky Rooster. He just looks evil don't you think?
My handsome little man. Just happy to be outside.

That didn't take long

It's short and sweet since there were three 2 1/2 year olds running around along with 3 mommies and a little dog.

Best Pals

Today was the first day in a long time that we had all three "Fun Friday" girls together. Six women and Beau playing in the playroom was quite fun. Beau loves the playroom. There is more for him to discover and he likes practicing crawling on the carpet. While just a couple of days ago he was still getting the hang of it, today he mastered it. I think it was a combination of too many great things to discover the taste of and the carpet. He likes to dig his toes in and MOVE! Now we are that the stage where we have to remind Lainey to watch out for her little brother. She is not graceful in least and he did get stepped on today in the chaos that is Lainey's world. Paige stayed for lunch and while the mac and cheese was cooling, the girls watched an episode of Hi-5. Both of them know the words to the songs and I'm a bit shocked they weren't up dancing. However, they had been playing for over 2 hours by this point. Sadly, Lainey did not take a nap today. I just can't seem to wear that girl out these days.

Watch out

Sometimes it's hard to tell when your baby "officially" starts crawling, walking, etc. Lainey took a couple of stumbling steps and then didn't do it again for weeks. I wondered then, do I say she was walking the first time, or when she finally walked a few steps consistently? I tend to go with consistency. Beau has been practicing crawling for weeks now. He seems to be very frustrated in his body's lack of cooperation, like his brain knew what to do but his body wasn't ready. This morning he did it! Just a few inches but his hands and knees got the motions down. Congrats little guy! You've worked so hard! Lainey better be on her toes now! It's not a great video but you try getting it on film. I bring out the camera and he stops to look and smile at it!

The Day After

We returned home this morning from our day long celebration of our anniversary. It was such a great day! As much as I love my babies, I do miss my husband. Robert is one of my favorite people and we hardly ever get a chance to spend any significant amount of time alone together anymore. So it was nice to get a chance to reconnect and reminisce about our wedding day. We exchanged gifts in the morning as we were both excited to see the other's reaction. I certainly don't show off or anything but I'll just say that I am very well loved and spoiled! Robert's parents drove up and spent the night with the kids and we spent the night at the same hotel we spent our wedding night and first anniversary-the Sheraton. After getting some lunch at the market we did a little shopping and headed over to Ummelina Spa for a couples' massage that was nothing short of heavenly. We then got dressed up and headed out to dinner and had the best meal of our lives. I wanted to take pictures of the food but it wasn't that sort of place. I finally broke down and pulled out the camera when dessert arrived however. It was just too delicious to not have a picture and well, I'd had just enough wine to not care if I got dirty looks. All in all, a very memorable occasion. Probably better than the wedding was!
Molten chocolate cake and a maraschino cherry ice cream lollipop with pistachios. One word-delicious!

Today is our ten year anniversary and for days I have been trying to come up with something for the blog. Nothing I have come up with comes close to how I feel about you. You are the perfect man for me and I love you with every fiber of my being. You have spoiled me with love, affection and trinkets of all kinds but what means the most to me, is your faith in me. You have always believed in me and are a true partner. You are a devoted husband and an amazing father and I couldn’t have picked a better man if I had Googled for one. Thank you for asking me to be your wife. I definitely got the better end of that bargain!

Seafair Weekend

Like a gazillion other people, we decided to head down to Lake Washington to see the Blue Angels do their Seafair show. Neither Robert nor I has ever really "done" Seafair and considering we left 10 minutes into their show, I think our streak continues. There's always next year I guess. Lainey had fun throwing rocks and sticks into the water and trying to swim with the big kids. Beau kept busy trying to master crawling. He can barely sit up on his own but true to his active personality, is determined to get moving as soon as possible. I enjoyed just being outside near the water with my family. It was a very good day! Lainey couldn't get enough of swimming in the lake.
Odd, considering she recently decided swimming lessons in a pool are not for her.

Snack time

My sweet boy. Happiest when he's standing or jumping.

This toy is ok, but I really want that stick over there.

Hey Mom, check this out!

I WILL figure this crawling thing out!
