Imagine Children's Museum in Everett

We went to the Children's Museum in Everett with our friends from Gymboree Ellie and Nicole. Ellie and Lainey had fun running around the place while their mommies chased after them. Ellie likes to stay close to her mommy, bless her heart. Lainey on the other hand, likes to do her own thing and I think I got more exercise today than I did at the gym the other day! We both needed a nap when we got home but what a fun day!

Banging on the computer in the "animal clinic"

Ooooohhhh....STAIRS! How fast can I get up there?

If I had to choose, I'd say this was Lainey's favorite spot in the whole place. I think she'd have climbed right into there if I'd had let her. By the time I pulled her away from this room she had not only soaked herself but Ellie as well.

And of course no day is complete without some slide action. Today we decided to go down backwards on our tummy!

Summertime

Summer for me has always been about getting a tan with as few tan lines as possible. I just noticed that the only tan lines I have, aside from some faint ones from our trip to Maui, are on my feet. Not exactly what I had in mind. This summer, I feel like a kid all over again and have loved introducing Lainey to splashing in her pool, climbing up the ladder and going down her slide, smelling flowers, blowing bubbles, playing on the grass and just plain enjoying the sunshine. I love seeing her wear cute little shorts and capri pants and her green Crocs. Of course, she can't stop herself and has to accessorize to the point she looks like a Bingo Queen but I love that little part of her personality. I'm thankful I can get her to leave the jewels at home when we go to the store because I know it won't be long before she'll insist on choosing her own outfits, complete with necklaces, bracelets and hats. So summer now means dirty little feet, Crocs, wet swim diapers and the most beautiful little girl squealing with delight over the sight of bubbles coming her way. So much better than working on a tan!

Lainey's Favorite Song at Gymboree

Darn Blogger won't let me upload videos even though it's smaller than the max size allowed. Oh well...I guess I'll keep posting to YouTube.

Sequim Lavender Festival

Grandma and Grandpa Reid came up to visit and we took a ferry over to the Sequim Lavender Festival. Lainey had fun smelling all the pretty flowers and eating lavender ice cream. At least 5 people took Lainey's picture. Some asked for permission, others just snapped away. We're struggling with how to tell people to knock it off and that it creeps us out--without sounding like jerks. I would never think to take a photo of someone else's child-especially without permission.

First Salon Haircut

Lainey's bangs have finally recovered from the haircut I gave her a couple of months ago and being scared to touch them again, I took her to Fun Cuts in Lynnwood today to see if they could even them out and trim up the rest. She did not like getting her hair cut the second time any better than she did the first. In fact, I think she hated it even more. Picture me holding her arms down while holding her head still. Almost abusive. But worth it in the end.

2. Add 1
3. Multiply by 250
4. Add the number formed by the last four digits of your phone number.
5. Add that four-digit number again.
6. Subtract 250
7. Divide by 2.

What number did you get?

Fun in the Sun with Aunt Nan

Lainey lights up whenever Nan is around. I could hear them laughing all the way in the house.

Happy 4th

Our neighborhood puts on a great 4th of July celebration with a kids parade, firetrucks and firemen, a potluck bbq and a fireworks show. It's so nice to be able to just walk home! Lainey didn't really like the fireworks at first but once she got settled onto Daddy's lap with a blanket and a snack, seemed to enjoy the show. My friend Bridgette and I decided to try taking pictures of the fireworks last night. We got some amazing pictures. Well, I think they are amazing. We were so excited we started jumping up and down, squealing and clapping. I love taking pictures and was just so excited to have learned something new. In all, I took 130 pictures with just a handful not turning out very well.

Lainey and her "babies"

Lainey is obsessed with her Elmo and Cookie Monster dolls and not only has to carry both of them at the same time, calls them "baby" and slept with them along with her usual pal, Hippy the Hippo. You couldn't even see her in the crib last night!
