Trip to Dallas

We just got back from visiting friends in Dallas. Lainey had a fabulous time playing with three boys-climbing the play structure, walking all over their house, and just plain enjoying being outside in some sunshine.

The Grassy Knoll is boring Mom......

The girl is stingy with her hugs but had plenty of them for Evan

The Dallas Zoo, where we got to pet stingrays. Scarlett was our favorite

Luckily, there were a few empty seats on the plane ride home so Lainey got her own. Of course, all she wanted to do was climb it to see the people behind her.

Walking!

OFFICIALLY WALKING!!!!

Lainey decided to just get up and walk on her own this morning with Daddy. I missed it as I got to sleep in a little so Daddy is feeling extra special today. If Blogger will let me, video will following shortly.

What IS this stuff?

Mother Nature is just plain MEAN-updated

There's now about 3 inches of snow on the ground. Robert discovered that his heater doesn't work and was freezing by the time he got home--an hour after he left work! The power has gone off and on and there's thunder which spooked the dog and sent him into a barking fit. What an adventure! I guess I should be thankful I'm not in Chicago dealing with earthquakes, or in Texas (yet! One week though!) with the tornadoes and thunderstorms. At least our weather mess is pretty to look at.

Miss May

I discovered some interesting baby food yesterday and decided to check out the company's website. It's called World Baby Food and it's all natural and all that good stuff. What got me interested was they use a variety of foods that aren't usually found in baby food. Lainey gobbled it up so I decided to check out their website to learn more about the company. (Yes, we're still eating baby food from jars but that's a whole other story) Turns out, it's a local company, their food is designed by physicians and favors local farmers. Pretty cool if you ask me. You can send in a photo of your child and if they use it, they will send you a case of food. Well....I'm not one to be stingy with my pics of Bug so I sent this one in. And what do you know? They are going to use her as Miss May on the website!! For those of you interested, I added them to the website list on the right.

Girly Girl on our hands?

Lainey is obsessed with digging out these beads we got at a Seahawks game last year. She puts them on and off all by herself and goes all around the house in them. There are 4 strands and unfortunately, they say Bud Light and Southern Comfort on them. I think I'll be shopping for some new bead necklaces soon.

And Grandma ML and Aunt Lacy--recognize the shirt she's wearing?

Mystery Solved!

As you know, a robin has been trying to get into the house via the window for weeks. Today, I was talking to our neighbor and he mentioned that he had seen my little friend. His idea was that the bird wanted to build a nest above the window and kept flying into it thinking it could fly under the proposed nest. We then looked around and found a nest on our front porch, tucked up in a corner!! There aren't any eggs in it yet but as we were talking my Mama Robin was chirping at us to get away from her nest. I can't wait to see baby birds!

Like my new dress?

My Grandma Reid made it for me. It fits perfectly!

Going for a walk

Lainey took her shopping cart out for a spin today since the weather was so nice. She pushed it all around the neighborhood and even up to get the mail. She liked stopping to touch the grass, dirt, fire hydrants and pretty much everything so it took us awhile. She also took off walking on her own when she saw something she really wanted to see.

Me and Licious

I gotta get me one of these!

A First for Mommy

I had my first experience with throw up in the crib last night. I put Lainey to bed at her usual 8pm and all was good for a bout a half hour. She started screaming and I found her standing in her crib, mad as a wet hen with hair going every which way. She must have thrown up while laying down and had rubbed her hair and face in it. Needless to say, she got a bath and new jammies put on. On top of that, she got to stay up past 9pm because I've learned not to put her to bed with wet hair. No amount of water or mom spit can get her hair to lay down the next day!

I don't think there is anything worse than the smell of baby spit up once they are drinking whole milk. I'd rather change 10 poopy diapers than deal with that. I think I'm pretty lucky to have made it 13 months without having to change the sheets at night but I'm sure this is the just the first of many evenings like this one.

Obstacle Course

Bare bottom

Lesson learned: If you're going to escape during a diaper change, Momma's going to get revenge.

Daddy Time

Doesn't he just look like a Dad? Maybe it's the tired look in his eyes from a long day at work or that he just spent $42 on a pair of shoes that Lainey will only wear for what seems like ten minutes.

I don't even want to know....

how she squeezed her way under the table! We have it blocked off and somehow she wiggled through. She must've crawled over the ottoman to be able to get under the table from this angle. All without hurting herself. What this girl will do for a book about ladybugs!
On her way out....
