Finally!

A little over a year after making it a goal, I found my favorite Deadliest Catch boat!!

And captured this sweet shot of my girl daydreaming of going on a boat. How do I know that's what she's thinking about you ask? Because she told us no less than 20 times that she wanted to go on a boat.

Now it's time to watch this week's episode!

I guess I need to come up with some new goals.  #1-move back into my house!

Two Great Days

March 5, 2007: The day we brought Lainey home and the day I really became a Mother.  I had no idea what I was doing then and I really don't now.  All I know is that I love this crazy sweet little girl so much it scares me.

January 28, 2009: Beau, I fell in love with you immediately. It hit me like a freight train.  You have filled my heart in ways I didn't even realize I needed.

A special thank you to all those that it took to make me a mother: lawyers, social workers, two incredibly special women: Veronica and Jennifer, judges and God.  And to all the doctors I saw over the years that tried and failed, I am SO glad you didn't succeed! I wouldn't have these two precious babies if you had.

Happy Mother's Day!

Butterflies in May

Robert took yesterday off and we decided to save what's left of our sanity by getting the kids out of the house (and out of the way of the contractors) by going to the Pacific Science Center.   I brought my camera along even though I know it's too dark in there to get decent photos but you just never know when a photo opportunity may present itself.  I am so glad I decided to throw it in my bag!

I wish I could say I intended to capture the following shots but that would be an utter lie. Well, the first one anyway.  I simply gave up trying to get Lainey to look at the camera and started taking photos of the butterflies.  As I was framing one shot, Lainey popped into my viewfinder and I snapped it.  Then I just followed her around and ultimately, got some of my best photos of her.  She probably loves bugs more than anything (except her Mommy of course) and to capture the peaceful, happy look on her face was priceless.

After hearing tell her 805 times, "don't touch the butterflies with your fingers," what does she do? Use her hair! Creative or sneaky, I'm not sure.  Considering how much she loves insects and butterflies, I was quite impressed with her self restraint.

This one flew off and hit her nose, startling and delighting her.

I want to touch you soooo bad!

I wanted to get a photo of this one in particular but they just wouldn't cooperate. Their wings are a beautiful blue but you only see it when they are flying. Not once did they open their wings while stopped.

And last but not least, one of 3/4s of our crew.  Lainey and Daddy had just assembled this grasshopper and she was quite pleased with herself.  Not enough to let me take her picture though.
