A good day

Tonight at dinner I asked the kids for one high and one low.  Neither one had a low for the day. Granted, Beau played at three different parks today, Lainey got her wish and I was at school almost the entire day (volunteering for picture day), including lunchtime and they both got not only dessert but a show before bedtime.  So yes, they had a lot of highs.  And seeing them have a great day made my day.

It's been awhile

Since I last blogged, each kid has aged 6 MONTHS!!!!  I feel horrible about not documenting more of our lives.  I know I'll forget all their juicy little "funnies" as I call them and then I'll feel guilty for forgetting. Sheesh, is there no end to the Mommy Guilt?

Two new things in this photo:  Lainey's missing front teeth and her bangs.  She's quite taken with the Tooth Fairy, in fact, she gets more excited about the tooth fairy than Santa Claus.  I just don't get that one. Seriously, she brings coins!  Santa brings presents AND candy!  Sigh. There's hope for her yet.  About the hair.  We got it cut today and I made the last minute decision to get her bangs.  She got bangs when she was a year old and it took 3 years to grow the blasted things out.  That was not fun.  One of Lainey's many strengths is her willingness to let me brush her hair. She very rarely complains about the knots and always lets me brush it as much as I feel the need to, or until I get her hair just right.  So we finally have the bangs grown out and what do I do-cut them right back off again! She's pretty excited about her hair.  All afternoon she kept asking us, "Can you believe I got bangs?!" and "I don't even look much like myself!" followed up with a little giggle.   Lord Almighty do I love this girl!

Interview with a 4 year old

I feel bad about being a little late blogging about this boy's big day but then again, isn't there's always something to feel guilty about when you're a mother?  Like every parent, I hate that my kids are growing up so fast.  Beau does not share that sentiment. He was very excited about turning 4 and wanted a gymnastics, Jake, superhero party. How does one pull that off exactly?  Well, we had his party where he has gymnastics class, his cake and invitations were Jake and the Neverland Pirates and in his goody bags to his friends were super hero capes, pirate tattoos, eye patches, etc.

Apparently turning 4 is a huge developmental milestone, at least in this little guy's opinion.  Everything he does is, "because I'm four," whether it's jumping off a big rock, running super fast, being brave enough to try new foods and whatnot.   So far, I am loving this stage.  He is thoughtful, generous, funny as all get out,  smart as a whip-seriously, nothing gets past this kid and I suspect he has a photographic memory.  Boy genius?  Not likely.  He does love to push his sister's buttons, is stubborn as heck, and eats boogers like he's going to run out of them and most definitely marches to his own drum.  But he's an incredible kid that I love hanging out with.  We have fun running the the most boring errand.  He's a great conversationalist and very observant.

I decided to do a little interview with my little man today.

Exactly one month later.....

The 2nd tooth popped out while she was chewing on a toy. Why she was chewing on a toy I have no idea but that's Laineybug.  I'm a little bummed I missed the event but happy that Grammy and Grampy (his new nickname) got to witness it. From what I understand, it popped out just after Grampy vacuumed the playroom (love a man that vacuums!) and all four of them were on their hands and knees searching for her tooth.  This time, she wanted the tooth fairy to take the tooth and said she did not want money this time.  So the tooth fairy left her a little stuffed dog that reminds us all of Cooper. She changes the name of it all the time but the latest is Snowflake, Bolt for short.  How she figures Bolt is a nickname for Snowflake is beyond me and not worth trying to figure out.

The adult tooth in the first spot is starting to come through so this smile is likely to change frequently. Right now, I'm loving this cute toothy one.

BIG news!

Lainey lost her first tooth! It went from a little wiggly to very VERY wiggly seemingly overnight!  She went to school on Thursday complaining because it hurt too much but was too chicken to pull it out herself.  Mid-morning, I got a text message from her teacher with a photo of Lainey missing one little tooth!  Her teacher yanked it out for her since she wouldn't leave it alone.  Her whole class went home telling their parents about how Lainey lost her tooth at school. She is pretty excited about this accomplishment but has no plans on losing anymore teeth. She says that's the only one that is coming out because it hurts too much.  Good luck with that baby girl!
