Enjoying the sunshine
Today was a great a day. Lainey wore herself out playing in her pool, well....more like climbing in and out repeatedly but whatever makes her happy, trying to catch the water coming out of the sprinkler and climbing the ladder to her playset and going down the slide. It took her all of one day to figure out how to get up the ladder all by herself. Then we had popsicles. Actually, I had to hand over mine. She was happy as a clam until it melted too fast and fell on the grass. Ahhhh.....such happy memories of childhood.

Big day at the zoo
Our great friends the Gwaltneys are visiting and we met up with them at the zoo today. What a day! We fed the giraffe, watched the brown bears go swimming right up next to the window, hissed like a snake when we saw the giant python, pretended to be a turtle, went down the slide a million times, found a rock to climb on, etc....

News that made me laugh
Bad week for Political protestors, after rumors spread that Denver authorities plan to control unruly demonstrators at this summer’s Democratic National Convention by unleashing a new infrasound weapon that makes people poop in their pants. For security reasons, city officials will not confirm or deny they’ve acquired a “crap cannon,” but say their crowd-control measures “will comply with federal and city requirements.”
A First and What happens when Aunt Nan babysits
Tonight marked the first time Lainey ate a meal that consisted of mainly real people food instead of jarred baby food. Mommy is VERY excited and had to take a picture to capture this momentous occasion that we thought was never going to happen. Of course, tomorrow she'll probably go right back to the jarred stuff but here's hoping this is the beginning of a new era!
Aunt Nan came over today to babysit and those two are good pals. She loves to listen and dance to the different ring tones on Nan's phone and is a particularly fond of rap. I refuse to buy the girl a big necklace with a giant clock attached to it however.

Teasing the Dog
Lainey knows that to get Cooper's attention, all she needs is food of some sort. She loves teasing him.

Daddy and Me
Mommy forgot to take a picture of us yesterday so our Father's Day photo is a day late. I went to the zoo with Mommy, Aunt Jeena and Lawson today. Daddy joined us for lunch at a nearby park. I had lots of fun climbing on stuff and just running around. Lawson shared his snacks with me and we checked out the gorillas. Or did they check us out? I'm not sure.

A great idea "borrowed"
I saw this on another blog awhile ago and thought it was a great idea.
My sweet Laineybug,
We just had your fifteen month doctor visit and you are growing like a little weed at 32.5 inches tall and 26 pounds. Fifteen months was a milestone I have been looking forward to since the day you were born. My mom, your grandmother Cindy, always said this age was her favorite. I don't know why it was her favorite and sadly, she's not here to ask. I do know that she would have loved being your grandma and this age might've continued to be her favorite. Lainey, to put it simply, you are the love of my life (no offense to Daddy). Everytime you give someone or some toy a hug or kiss, I melt a little. When I'm the recipient, my heart feels like it will burst. You have such a happy disposition and toughness that amazes most everyone who meets you. Seeing you in a pair of jeans is probably one of the cutest sights I can imagine. You like to run away from me with some item that you know you're not supposed to have, all the while laughing. You love to dance and twirl to music and you like it when I sing songs to you. One day you'll learn my singing voice is not my best trait but until then, I love that you love it. Your sweet little voice is music to my ears and you make me laugh out loud with your cute expressions and nonstop talking. I know we're going to have some great conversations. You're off to a great start with your vocabulary with Mama, Dada, dog, uh-oh, eyes, hi, and my favorite, mmmmm good which you only say when you are feeding yourself. Every morning I listen for you and you never fail to greet me with a huge smile on your face. You brighten my day like a warm summer day and I miss you when you are sleeping. With just a couple exceptions, every night for the past 15 months I have looked in on you sleeping before going to bed myself. You look like an angel sleeping on your tummy with your little tush up in the air and feet tucked underneath and I thank God for bestowing on me such a precious gift. I am truly blessed to be given the honor of being your mom.
Love you Bug,
Mommy

Playing with Grandpa
Grandma and Grandpa Reid visited yesterday and we had tons of fun. Grandpa is really in touch with his inner child. We played music-we bang on the drum, the xylophone and the highchair! I'm learning the difference between soft and loud. I REALLY like loud!!
Then we got into my tent. I'm not a big fan of the tent but since Grandpa went in, I had to get in too, just to make sure he wasn't having fun without me. When he left to go home, I gave him lots of kisses and hugs.
Grandma is fun too. She plays dolls with me, she even fixed my stroller! And she reads to me and makes me pretty dresses.
